Hip and knee replacement in China: the implant now costs ¥7,000, not ¥35,000
What changed in 2022
China ran centralized procurement for artificial joints in 2021–2022: the average hip implant fell from about ¥35,000 to around ¥7,000, and knee systems from ¥32,000 to around ¥5,000 — cuts of roughly 80%. In the two years after implementation, more than 1.11 million procured joints were implanted nationwide. As with stents, these are mainstream manufacturers' products; the reform removed distribution markups.

Chinese reporting puts the pre-reform total for a hip replacement near ¥100,000; after procurement, a typical all-in hospitalization in a regular department lands under ¥50,000 (≈US$7,000) — implant, surgery, ward and rehabilitation start included. Complex revisions and premium ceramic systems cost more; budget at the top of your quoted range as always. For comparison, the same operation is commonly a US$30,000–50,000 affair in Singapore's private system and more in the United States.
